Sara Gideon could be the first Armenian-American Democrat Senator in United States History
Sara Gideon could be the first Armenian-American Senator in United States History. She is the granddaughter of Armenian Genocide survivors.
Her opponent, Susan Collins, has been meeting with Azeri lobbyists. Azeri media reports that “American Democrat U.S. Senator [Susan Collins] concerned about Armenia's occupation policy,” the report calling Armenians in Artsakh, an “illegal occupation.”
Meanwhile, Sara Gideon is a strong advocate for Armenia and also actively supported the State of Maine's recognition of the Republic of Artsakh, cosponsoring and helping pass legislation in 2013 calling for U.S. support for Artsakh's self-determination.
